Make a Wish & MS Foundation UPDATE!

 

Our charity auction to benefit both the Make A Wish and MS Foundations was a huge success this year. With your help, we managed to raise over $1,300.00! Thanks so much to each of you that generously bid and to those who donated to the auction. We were all moved by the generous bids received at the auction. Thanks again to all who participated! It was definitely for a great cause. Dates for next year's convention will be up soon, so keep checking back to find out what we have in store for Aurora-Con IV! You won't want to miss it!

We'd like to thank all attendees, staff, volunteers, and participants that made Aurora-Con 2008 a huge success!

We want to send out our most heartfelt thanks to every single person that was at Aurora-Con this year. Without all of the wonderful attendees, volunteers, artists, dealers, panel presenters, and staff we could not pull together this event that is near and dear to our hearts, and keeps growing year after year. Every single one of you is an important ingredient in the mix that is Aurora-Con, and we appreciate all of you immensely!
We had a great convention year! We are definitely growing, and as we grow, we will continue to look for more ways to improve your whole convention experience. We learn as we go and use the snags and revelations we hit along the way as learning experiences to improve for the next year. Being as this was the first year we did a 2-day event, we learned a lot about what needs to be improved for it in the future. Thanks for being patient and as excited as we are as we grow!

Aurora-Con Charity Auction UPDATE!

Tips & Info to help!                                

 

We've been getting lots of questions on how the Aurora-Con charity auction is going to function, so we figured it would be best to put up a brief explanation now so you will be ready when it comes time on Saturday for the auction.

 

First, please bid with the intention on buying the items; second, you will be raising your hand to bid as the auctioneer points and confirms that the item is now yours for that cost; and third, once the bidding has ended for that item, please come to the front of the stage with the funds for the item, claim the item and be happy that you won something awesome! So please come to the auction with the funds available so you can have your item right away. In the case of Vic and Colleen's voices, the winners will be meeting up with them shortly after the auction to have their messages made in a secluded area. We hope that helps answer some of the questions. Thanks for all the inquiries about the auction, we look forward to it being a success!

Aurora-Con Pre-registration UPDATE!                  

Barnes & Noble Pre-registration Badge Pick-Up !

 

For those of you who have (1) pre-registered, and (2) are in Anchorage on Friday, September 26, can come to Barnes & Noble in midtown to pick-up your badge the night before the con between the hours of 6-9PM!

THERE WILL BE NO BUYING YOUR REGISTRATIONS AT THIS TIME!! This is just a pick-up!

Also, please remember to bring some sort of photo ID, your confirmation email, or your parental guardian. You CANNOT pick up anyone's else badge but your own! We want people that bought and paid for their badges to have it in their own little hands.

If you cannot make it at this time to Barnes & Noble for the pick-up, don't fret, you can still do it the morning of the con at any time. Just go to the registration table and get it anytime starting at 8AM the morning of the con, however the convention doesn't start til 11AM. So, you can get your badge but you won't be able to get past registration til the con opens at 11AM.

So, please make it to Barnes & Noble on the 26th between 6-9PM, get your badge, please remember it the following morning to the con, and be ready for a good time!

Sunday, as the lead into the dance, be prepared for a performance by Sujin! She will sing songs of inspiration, happiness and even sadness.  All songs will done in Japanese and she will be performing live on the Main Stage!

You Got Schooled!                              

 

Think your the biggest otaku or gamer around? Come to the Main Stage on Sunday to prove it in the battle of wits and knowledge to see which team of 3 are the smartest fans around and win! That's right...you gotta do it with two of your friends! Think you can handle it? We don't!!

 

Get ready, we will have the schedule up soon for the events happening at the convention.  There will also be the panel schedule up too.  So stay tuned, and be ready to start planning your Aurora-Con weekend.

Aurora-Con Programming UPDATE!            

Zombies will haunt downtown Anchorage!     

 

Just before the convention closes Saturday night, there will be a ZOMBIE WALK! Anchorage will have its first zombie walk for those who want to join dozens of undead companions searching for human brains and flesh while lurching through downtown Anchorage, and have blood oozing from their ashen faces. There will also be a panel and even a booth setup for those who want to be made into zombies!

AMV Contest Entry and 2009 Mascot Contest SOON!

The 2009 Mascot Contest entries MUST be in by 11:59 Friday night!  And if you have an AMV that will need to be encoded it must be postmarked by Friday as well! Time is of the essence folks! Aurora-Con will be here before you know it!

There are three cosplay events happening at Aurora-Con, sign-up by September 15th!

The Cosplay Fashion show is your chance to show off your costume on stage without worrying about performing, with prizes for creative costumes. Click here to sign up. The Cosplay Masquerade is a skit competition with prizes for best performance and best self-made costume. Sign up on your own or with your friends! Cosplay Chess is a game of live-action battle chess that’s fun for everyone.  Check out the forum for sign-ups!

Aurora-Con Charity Auction                             

Funding for Make A Wish & MS Foundations!

 

Aurora-Con will have a charity auction this year on Saturday at the convention, with proceeds going to both the Make A Wish and Multiple Sclerosis Foundations.  We have lots of amazing items up for auction with more coming in!  From manga sets and plushies to DVDs and authentic Asian art.  Be ready to shout, outbid and come out on top with some amazing items!  Click here for a list of items and a brief description, and remember to check back frequently as more items become available.

Aurora-Con Pre-registration UPDATE            

First price hike happens at the end of March!

 

We know that line was looong last year to get into Aurora-Con....so alleviate that problem and pre-register now! Pre-registration will be going up to $20 at the end of March.  You will be able to pick up your Aurora-Con badges the day prior to the convention on September 26th, so all you have to do is walk through the door the morning of the con! Awesome right? So pre-register now and save time later!
